Viva Voce Singers : Norwich's top amateur chamber choir

Viva Voce Singers is a small and friendly chamber choir based in Norwich, Norfolk. Under the musical direction of Jody James, we pride ourselves on delivering high quality performances with a rich and varied repertoire.

We typically perform around five concerts each year and we have been fortunate to sing in some of Norfolk’s finest venues, both in the heart of the city and around the county. Recent concerts and services in Norwich have included churches such as St Peter Mancroft, Norwich Cathedral and St Andrew’s, Eaton; further afield, we have performed at Binham Priory, Upper Sheringham, Trunch, Salthouse and many more countryside venues.

Our repertoire spans a diverse range of styles, from early Renaissance, through the Classical and Romantic eras, to the present day. We enjoy performing early music including works by composers such as Thomas Tallis, Tomás Luis de Victoria and William Byrd, however, we are also keen to perform the works of living composers. We have enjoyed singing a number of pieces by Sarah Quartel and Eleanor Daley, as well as new music from Alan Bullard and Reena Esmail.

We are always keen to support other charities and we have been delighted to perform at events for Cancer Research UK and East Anglian Air Ambulance. We also have a long-standing history of supporting the Mancroft Advice Project (MAP), who support young people to have better, safer lives and grow to be confident, contributing adults. Our candlelit concert for MAP at St Peter Mancroft every Christmas, is always very popular within the community and is also a firm favourite amongst choir members.
